FRONT COVER: In the depths of winter, it is nice to be reminded of warm summer days and what better place than the South Devon Coast at Teignmouth? You can almost feel the heat of the sunshine as 4-6-0 No.6868 Penrhos Grange heads west with the 10.05am Exeter to Paignton service on 14th July 1958. This period just about marked the end of the traditional GWR 'look' in the South West: a few years later and it was all very different as our feature on pages 60/61 indicates. (R.C.Rilcv)
