FRONT COVER - LNER A3 4-6-2 No.60047 Donovan has backed down on to its train in the shadow of King's Cross station's overall roof in 1962. Built as an A I in 1924, Donovan was rebuilt as an A3 in 1947 and received a double chimney in 1959 and German-style smoke deflectors in 1961. Its name commemorates the winner of the IS89 Derby and St. Leger, owned by the Duke of Portland.
