One of the biggest locomotive restoration projects in south-west England a€ that of Bulleid West Country light Pacific No 34007 Wadebridge a€" is nearing completion with the locomotive having steamed in the preservation era for the first time on 30 August. While the Southern Railwaya€ s a€~Withered Arma€ largely died 40 years ago, as highlighted in the August issuea€ s Changeover Years feature, it will never accept its demise gracefully. With help from the restoration groupa€ s chairman John Butcher, Robin Jones looks at the return of Wadebridge and progress on two other heritage schemes, Torrington station and the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, which proves that the legendary lost LSWR network in the far west has been far from forgotten.

With assistance from Graham Drew and Ken Gibbs, society chairman Richard Croucher reviews the achievements made so far in the marvellous project to back-convert a derelict auto trailer into its original incarnation as Railmotor No 93.
