Changes for Guideline Publications and Scale Aircraft Modelling:
The name Alan W Hall has been closely associated with the hobby of plastic aircraft modelling for over 30 years, initially from involvement in the early Airfix Magazine, and progressing to the modelling page of his Aviation News before he launched Scale Aircraft Modelling 20 years ago as the first specialist publication in this field. When Hall Park Publications, with which he was associated, went into bankruptcy just over four years ago, he became a shareholder in the company which bought the title from the receiver, and was invited to continue as Editor by his fellow directors of Guideline Publications. In recent discussions on the ways in which both the company and magazine might develop and expand, Mr Hall has not found it possible to agree with some steps which the Guideline Publications Board of Directors considered were necessary, and as a consequence we have parted company, Alan to further develop his succesful title 'Warpaint', we to grow and further develop SAM. We all thank Alan and wish him all the very best.
Former Assistant Editor Andy Sheppard now takes on the editorial function, and Guideline Publications have invited Neil Robinson, a former Editor of IPMS Magazine currently responsible for Quarter Scale Modeller, Seventy-Second Scale Modeller, and Military Vehicle Modeller, to join the Board with the title and function of Managing Editor. Communications with Guideline Publications or Scale Aircraft Modelling should be made using the appropriate contact details as appear in the column to the left. Advertising remains in the hands of Anne Davenport, and many of the other well- known names associated with the magazine over the last four years will continue to contribute. Reg Auckland, who has been responsible for production of the magazine, takes up the post of Chairman of Guideline Publications. While we regret having to part company with Alan Hall, not least in recognition of what he has done in encouraging both the hobby and modellers for many years, we feel this step is necessary if Scale Aircraft Modelling is to develop and expand.
