ON THE COVER: As noted in previous issues, and again in this month's World Air News section, the full scale development phase for the Lockheed P-7A (formerly LRAACA), is now under way with two prototypes under construction and first flight scheduled for late 1991. Production of up to 125 aircraft, on present plans, will start in 1992 with first delivery in 1994. The aircraft is developed from the present P-3C Orion which it resembles externally and which it will replace in the ASW role. In terms of engineering and technology, however, it will be a radically improved aircraft. This Lockheed artist's concept shows its expected US Navy in-service appearance. Inset: A dramatic new shape which will become more familiar in the near future is the Beech Starship, UK introduction of which was detailed in our September issue.
