FRONT COVER - LBSCR H2 4-4-2 No.2421 South Foreland at Newhaven shed in 1947. The name was bestowed on the engine in 1925 by the Southern Railway in whose post-war malachite green livery it is seen here. Built at Brighton in 1911, the locomotive was withdrawn in 1956.
