FRONT COVER - A 'Blue Pullman' diesel unit at Paddington c1965. The first of the 'Blue Pullman' trains had entered service on the Midland main line in June 1960, followed three months later by three eight-car sets on the Western Region operating the 'Bristol Pullman', 'Birmingham Pullman' and, later, 'South Wales Pullman'. The two LMR trains subsequently moved on to the WR following the Eustona€Manchester/Liverpool electrification and all were withdrawn in 1973.
