Welcome
Athough this issue is cover dated January 2020 (is it just me getting old, or does 2020 sound terribly sci-fi to you, too?), in real time I find myself writing this at the beginning of December, with both a general election and a jolly girls trip to Margate for the preview of Corgi's new line-up for the year ahead (an event far more likely to deliver some good cheer) still to come -the latter I look forward to reporting back on in the next issue.
By the time you have this edition in your hands, though, the holidays will almost be upon us, so, whether you love all the festivities or not, I hope its contents will serve as a well-timed dose of R&R. I recently learned that in Iceland books are exchanged on Christmas Eve and the tradition is then to spend the rest of night reading them and eating chocolate. I've always loved the calm that finally depends after sundown on the 24th, so throw in a roaring fire and either a glass of red or a single malt and that idea sounds just perfect to me!
As is so often the case, there's quite an international flavour to the pages ahead, because as well as plenty of classic British model coverage (including the opportunity to win Oxford Diecast's superb new 1:43 scale Weymann Fanfare coach looking simply splendid in Southdown livery) we've also included marques and manufacturers from Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, South Korea and the Netherlands. I will, therefore, leave you to get on with that smorgasbord, but before doing so I just want to thank you all so much for your continued support and your contributions during 2019 and indeed to wish each and every one of you a very merry little Christmas and a really happy, healthy New Year.
Cheers, and enjoy your read!
