On the cover - Stratford's InterCity liveried Class 4 7/4 No 47487 is seen at Shaw Wood on tha Midland main line on 7 March. Because of its special livery No 47487 was the locomotive chosen to complete the haulage from Willesden Junction on 9 May of a special service originating at Manchester Piccadilly bringing guests to the opening of Kensington Olympia as an InterCity station. Photographs of the event are on page 12.
